Phiorio - Polar Mutation (No Shell Mix) - Metroline Limited 61
I feel so much anger and sadness because this world is such a mess. The lives we live are full of lies. We're not aware of what we're doing. The consequences are hidden by packaging. The news we're shown are selected few. Drones kill kids in far away countries, fighting wars that no one really understands. We're disconnected. We allow ourselves to be governed by millionaires who make austerity rules that they themselves would not dream to follow. The ones in power have no respect for Life. Maybe this is why they have power, because once you start thinking about what you do, you don't desire control and you let go of greed, you start dreaming of things making sense, of people caring for one another and being responsible for themselves.
But TV says it's OK to be stupid and daddy used to say I think too much. But daddy lost the battle to cancer and TV is just another propaganda tool for the rich bastards that make the world their plaything while we waste time working shit jobs that barely pay the bills, buying unnecessary stuff we're told we need, being told it's OK to hate and that trust is a sign of weakness, droning about like idiots.
I say take the blinkers off. Think for yourself and take all the time you need. Do what feels right. Things need to change and that starts with ourselves.
T.W.I.C.E. Round & Brown. Metroline Limited release 59
This is the video for T.W.I.C.E's track Round & Brown released on the underground techno label Metroline Limited. Still wondering where they got that title from/ why they called the track this...
but I decided that round and brown would be what Earth looks like from space once we the human race are done with fucking up everything that supports life on our planet. Saying this, I'm pretty sure there will still be some forms of life left on Earth after we're extinct, but then cockroaches and bacterias are also sort of round and brown...

Last Bipolar Bear video of 2012...Fade Away by Kira Kenley
The idea came from Kira, who actively took part in all phases of the process. She came up with the concept of the 'mechanical mind' ie all our conditionings and habits that get in the way. 'Fade away' is about getting away from those to make space for Truth and Love in your life. The mechanical mind becomes the mechanical doll she's miming as she sings, that goes back in her box at the end of the song. I think that's a beautiful metaphore for the act of claiming freedom from your mind and getting rid of everything that gets in the way of that freedom. We actually did the video twice, and in hindsight I'm glad we did as this second version is more minimal, purer and more to the point than the previous one. Kira was there working on it with me all the way. We had some good laughs, (and some good food!), too. :)
'Fade Away' is Kira Kenley's debut album 'Get Along', coming out this year.
the single can be bought here
Much love and a happy new year to all, I hope 2013 bring us many opportunities to create marvelous and enlightening work

Two Videos. 1
More Bipolar Bear work. Videos like buses. Long wait then two come at once.
By the way I think cats are awesome. I was just trying to create a bit of drama. They didn't seem to mind being filmed that much. Well maybe they got a little annoyed...
Dear drama...what would life be without it?
That's the latest for Metroline Limited's recently released track Forma Matika by CrossNineTroll
(great name, BTW, very lord of the rings)

Metroline 57. Bipolar Bear video
There's a little mash-up I made for this track. I find the ad at the start fairly annoying but there it is anyway...

Bodj - Ring My Bell - Metroline Limited 49
Another of my Bipolar Bear D.I.Y videos for the label Metroline.
This one is made entirely of stills of more or less insignificant objects found on my desk and then mirrored to form slightly disturbing or ethnic shapes (I think some of them look like African war masks). I also wanted the images to mirror the music, so I turned the stills into sequences that get repeated and looped with each loop differing slightly.
Aesthetics-wise, I kept it all very minimal. Black & white, pictures have only one object each.
Shot in 35mm. Please be aware video contains flashes akin to strobe lights.

RM12.2 by Sailor Mood. Bipolar Bear video 2
So after making the video for Phiorio's Famous Wick Python, soon to be released on the german label My Best Friend, I got asked to do more vids for Metroline and little sister label Retrometro. Here's the resulting works that accompany the latest Retrometro release, RM12.2 by Italian duo Sailor Mood.
Inspiration for this video came from a shoot I did a while ago involving a miniature tea set, pink princess dress, that rainbow wind-thing and a panda rubber mask. I also used the pictures for the records artwork. Besides that, Lynch stuff (Twin Peaks, Inland Empire...), and several memories of highs for the in and out effect (close your eyes, see something, open eyes, decor's changed, etc) so it's all mainly about consciousness flickering between dream and reality (a questionable reality) Oh, and thanks to my cat Chew-chew for starring (although I'm not sure he's actually aware of it, and that would be an interesting thems to explore later, animal consciousness).
All the indoor sequences were shot in Hackney Wick's Plumkin Pie Studio except cat shots, outdoors are set in Normandy seaside town Granville and surroundings.
